Deep Water Summary In English Deep Water is about the writer’s journey of overcoming the fear of water. The author fears water since his childhood. He recounts the day when a waves knocked him down and swept over him. He was buried under water. His breath was gone. He was frightened. Another misadventure happened at YMCA swimming pool when he was 11 years old.  A boy picked him and threw into the deep water. He struck water in a sitting position.
